A. “I used to roll the dice, feel the fear in the enemies eyes.”

1. I think this is poetic because of the idea of feeling fear, especially from the eyes. I can picture the scene and what the people look like. It has never been said before, and I think they took a risk saying it.

2. I think this is poetic because the idea of pillars on a massive castle crumbling into salt and sand. I can see it happening and what it looks like.

3. I think this is poetic because it is very realistic. Being the king seems like, to me, a very lonely place. The king is controlled by a thousand different people, and no matter what you do, someone is unhappy. The king could be like a puppet: all by itself and never gets to move by itself.

1. His work, to me, is a mix of the old with the new. He blends old back rounds, that you would see as wallpaper in your Grandma’s house, with modern people and ideas. In one of the paintings, he has an old red design with flowers, and current athletes on the front. It conveys a mix of societies and their cultures.

2. I like Wiley’s paintings. I wouldn’t put one in my house, but I like them. They are something I haven’t seen before, and have really bright colors. Not many paintings have as bright of colors as Wiley does. I also like the fact that the backrounds are old, but the men are all modern. It gives the men a powerful look.

1. I have a very positive response to his pieces. I think they have a lot of meaning, and a lot of power. I think all of them have an underlying meaning of peace. They all seem to tie two opposing things together. The dove has a bulletproof vest on, which to me implies the world is fighting itself. The balloon girl ties Israel and Pakistan. The last one tries to tie man and animal together. I agree with all of them. I think the world would be a much better place if people were just peaceful. People don’t have to agree, but they also don’t have to bomb places, and try to make their opponents life difficult.

2. I believe graffiti is art. It takes passion and a point of view to create graffiti. I am kind of conflicted whether it should be aloud or not. I think it is beautiful, but it should have its own place. If a building owner does not want their building to be polluted with graffiti, that’s their choice. I think pen names are often used because artists want to have their privacy. They want their views to be public, but they also want to know that other people will not judge them for their opinions.

3. I do not think it is important to have your work in the public. As long as what you are doing satisfies you, I see no reason for it to be in the public. If doing things just for yourself is not satisfying, then you need to put it in the public. If you want people to see your work, go for it. If not, that’s okay, too.

I chose this picture because it reminds me of the drive to my Grandma’s house. She lives in Chicago, and we always drive through Wisconsin to get there. Wisconsin, in the fall, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It seems like every tree has its own color, like snowflakes, two never the same. Although the drive seems like it takes forever, seeing all of the trees on the side of the road make it worthwhile.
